The pattern is known as "Good Luck" and the shape is a ruffled bowl with a collar base foot. The bowl measures approximately 8 7/8" in diameter and is 2 1/2" tall. The collar base has a diameter of approximately 3 1/2. The ruffled bowl depicts the words "Good Luck" in the center above a horseshoe that has a riding crop that runs through it.
There is a whimsical pattern of flowers and berries encircling the horseshoe of the bowl to about an inch from the edge. Some of the flowers and leaves have stippling which adds to the interest of the piece. It has a basket weave back pattern and a saw tooth edge. The iridescence on this bowl is bright and brilliant and appears to be electric. You can see brilliant purples with blues and gold highlights. The base glass is purple or amethyst.This is an exceptionally crisp mold on both the front and backside of this bowl and is considered an excellent example. The piece is in excellent condition as there are no crack, nicks, chips or dings. The piece is signed on the underside bottom with the N in a circle underlined. This is the mark of Northwood Carnival Glass.
