HORLACHER BREWING Advertising THISTLE Pattern Amethyst Purple Carnival Glass Ruffled Bowl c. 1910 Made by the Fenton Art Glass Company Williamstown, West Virginia. Approximate Dimensions 8.75" (Diameter) 2.5" (High) 3.125 (Base). This is a nice amethyst carnival glass (iridized) ruffled bowl featuring the pattern " THISTLE " made by the Fenton Art Glass Company of Williamstown, West Virginia, circa 1910.
The exterior backside center base of the bowl has the script logo advertising for "HORLACHER" Brewing of Allentown, Pennsylvania. Very good condition with no chips, cracks, or restorations. The iridescence on the interior is wonderful with the amethyst glass peeking through. The iridescence on the backside bottom of the bowl is very rainbow in color, brilliant but with some iridescence surface rubs (please see close-up photos). Again, though, the interior iridescence is unblemished and very, very pretty.
The Thistle pattern is well-articulated, detailed, and unmarred. There are the usual internal air bubbles and straw marks (shearing and crimping tool marks) commonly associated with the hand manufacturing of old carnival, opalescent, stretch, and EAPG. Each piece of this old fabulous glass is unique, no two pieces are identical. Please see photos directly below.
