The epergne is a 3 horn or lily epergne in deep red and is just lovely. The bowl that holds the lilies or horns has a smooth interior to the bowl with a ruffled candy ribbon edge effect that is subtle. The exterior of the bowl has a hobnail pattern.
It has an exagerrated depth to the foot to accomodate the holes from underneath to hold the lilies. The foot of the bowl displays an amberina affect bleeding from red near the bowl to amber at the bottom of the foot.
The center of the bowl has 3 holes tooled on the interior to hold the lilies upright. The 3 lilies insert into each stem hole and they have the hobnail pattern on the exterior of the lily to compliment the bowl.
The edges of the lily are ruffled and pulled to a point to resemble flowers. The iridescence is bright with hues of purple, blue, teal and green. This is a piece that really catches your attention when placed on display in a room.
The epergne is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. The piece is signed Fenton in an oval on the underside. This piece made circa 1980.
