Fenton Open Edge 3 Row Basket Weave 3 Toed Ruffle Edge Bowl, White Opalescent
An antique Fenton white opalescent / white carnival 3 toed ruffle bowl in the fairly uncommon Open Edge 3 Row Basket Weave pattern. The bowl measures approximately 9" in diameter and stands about 2 3/4" in height at the highest point of the ruffles. It is in very good vintage condition with no chips.
The last picture shows a close-up of a brown spot that is potentially glue because there appears to be a stress fracture in the ruffle edge at that point. This appears to be a production issue, because there are about 5 other places along the outer rim of the ruffle edge where you can see a tiny line. I feel no roughness when I run my finger along the top, bottom, or edge of the rim in those areas, but can detect a miniscule amount of roughness on a couple of areas if I run my fingernail across the area.
None of these appear to have any impact on the structural integrity of the piece, and as I mentioned, I believe they occurred during the production process rather than being a result of damage. There are also a couple of deep scratches on the bottom of the bowl near one of the feet that I also believe to be production flaws. The piece displays beautifully and would be a great addition to any Fenton or antique glassware collection!
