Antique Renninger Blue OPALESCENT Carnival Glass Hearts & Flowers Compote
The base glass color is a much darker shade of blue than powder blue or ice blue or aqua. But it is not as dark as regular blue or cobalt blue. It is one of those colors that are in between. So we are calling it Renninger Blue. The opalescense extents about half down the bowl portion.

The iridescense is multi-color and beautiful. Made by the Northwood Glass Company, circa 1910 to 1915. On the underside of the base there is a shallow flat elongated chip that someone tried to grind out and polish, but it is still visible (see last photo).

This compote is one EXTREMELY RARE piece of Northwood carnival glass one that deserves a spot in a Hearts & Flowers collection. It might even be a one of a kind!
